New Construction Warranty Inspections in London

All newly constructed homes in Ontario are protected under the Tarion New Home Warranty Program, which provides coverage during the 1-year, 2-year, and 7-year warranty periods. An inspection from Carson Dunlop D’Andrea Team can help ensure you don’t miss key defects before each deadline passes.

1-Year Warranty Coverage

Covers defects in materials and workmanship, as well as unauthorized substitutions and violations of the Ontario Building Code that affect health and safety. This coverage starts on your possession date and ends one year later.

Before this period expires, book a comprehensive home inspection to help you identify and document any issues for your builder or Tarion.

2-Year Warranty Coverage

Covers defects related to:

  • Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Exterior cladding (e.g., brick, siding, stucco)
  • Basement and foundation water penetration
  • Building code violations affecting health and safety

This coverage extends from the first to the second anniversary of your possession date.

An inspection near the end of the second year can help catch concealed or emerging issues before this coverage expires.

7-Year Warranty Coverage

Protects against major structural defects that affect the load-bearing parts of your home or cause the building to be unsafe to occupy.
Coverage begins on your possession date and lasts for seven years.

We recommend an inspection if you suspect structural movement, foundation issues, or other major concerns that may fall under this long-term warranty.
